I discovered, very early in my life, the power words can have. I felt like they allowed me to write beauty and light into the darkest times in my life - times when I couldn’t necessarily see it in the world around me.
Then, I discovered my love for photography and my writing was pushed to the side. I felt like I had finally “found” myself behind the camera.
Photography completely changed my life and while I was creating memories for my clients, I began rebuilding myself.
My photography has done a lot to heal the parts of me that needed to find beauty in the simple things, but I still felt like something was missing. Some element of honesty, not in my work necessarily, but perhaps in my interaction with those around me.
In the world of social media, you are often told to draw a line between professional and personal content.
But how does that work when your work IS so personal?
Well, it doesn’t.
My clients are incredible. And unique. And strong. And funny. Sometimes our sessions together are a breeze and sometimes….not so much. But they are real. And they are all different. And I learn something from each of you when we meet. You are more than just a beautiful face to me and you deserve to know how you inspire me and how you bring your own unique beauty to the world.
A few years ago, I made the choice to change the way I ran my business, the way that I created images for my clients, and I truly believe it changed the entire projection of my life. My work became more honest, more transparent, more genuine. But my words fell short, failing to share the deep connection I feel with my clients.
This year I will continue to create timeless, genuine portraits of your family while trying to remember to take the time to reflect on our time together and share how you light up the world.
